Declaration Of Dependence

I have my rights, I whimper. Please, physician. Help me to kill myself. You do such a nice, sterile job in killing my children. I don't even see why I have to be a part of this. Why should I have to pull this trigger or take this pill? I think you ask too much of me. Why can't you just put me out of my misery? Why do I have to be involved? The only thing that is wrong with physician assisted suicide is that you help so little. Why can't you just kill me? I have my rights, I whimper.

We are so sad. We would have our rights without obligations. The land of the free and the brave. What a joke. What a sad joke. All we have are rights. We are spoiled little children. We are babies who have not yet learned to stand. We crawl and beg and whimper and whine. We have our rights.

To hell with our rights. I would rather be under the thumb of the most tyrannical dictator, waging the good fight than to crawl on my belly like a snake. Our rights mean nothing if we have no obligations. Oh, we pay our taxes. Maybe that gives us the right to believe in nothing. If you believe that one you are only kidding yourself.

The government will tell you at 18 that you owe your life to this country and that they have the right to take it. They will tell you that you have an obligation to pay for your rights. And you will not buy it with your money but with your life.

And why would anyone pay such a price? For a road? For a television? For a Ronald McDonald hamburger? We are worth nothing if this is all we believe in. We slither and slide and crawl and disgust in the name of our rights.

I want my dignity. And no government has the right to steal it from me. I will go through my pain for you. And you will go through your pain for me. Stand up you coward. Stand up. You are a man. You are not a dog. Now stand and deliver. This is what we fought for in the first place. I will not let you steal it from me because I am too expensive. This is my right. This is my obligation. I owe my rights to you. You owe your rights to me. Now fight for me as I fight for you.

Stand.
